Singapore Zoo and Two Pictures of Chinatown
Here’s a bunch of pictures of animals from the Singapore Zoo and the Jurong Bird Park! The Zoo was good, but completely exhausting because it’s huge, Heather and I like to see everything, and it’s about a thousand degrees in Singapore even when it’s winter.
There was a Polar Bear.
Some Orangutans that some other tourists were throwing food to; Heather told them to cut it out and they did, pretty badass.
Some Warthogs:
Lil’ Meerkats and Squirrels.
A very dramatic looking frog.
These Monkeys were loose in this big enclosure you walked through. You could get super close.
A Snake, lil’ Alligator and a Skink:
There was a massive enclosure for Baboons. I caught one shouting and one jumping as they were fed.
I was going to say that the best part was the bird section but I forgot that was a totally different park! We went to the Jurong Bird Park on a totally different day and it was amazing. You can remember the name of the park because people will tell you it’s only good if you’re crazy about birds and you won’t like it and you can say JUR-WRONG I’ll love it because birds are so great!
Jurong Bird Park has a multistory Lorakeet enclosure where you canfeed them nectar (their preferred meal) and coax them onto your arms and into interacting with you. It was so great and they were adorable. Some got bitey, but their tiny little beaks can’t really hurt you.
We were told there are two great bird shows at Jurong, the High Fliers and the Kings of the Skies. High Fliers was very impressive; they had birds doing tricks like flying through a series of hoops towards each other such that at the final hoop one bird had to stall upwards to give the other bird a chance to go through the hoop, then the stalled bird swooped down and through. Kings of the Skies was okay, a little less impressive trick-wise but you get to see some more cool birds. Birds birds birds.
Also here are the two pictures I took of Chinatown!
